Test Track at EPCOT: Reopening Date Announced!

Test Track at EPCOT is getting a major overhaul and is set to rev up the park once again. With a new storyline, sleek vehicles, and a nod to the past, this is a ride you won’t want to miss!

Test Track closed in June 2024 for a significant refurbishment, and the reopening date has now been confirmed: July 22, 2025. Before the official opening, lucky guests such as Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members, Golden Oak residents, Club 33 members, and cast members will have the chance to experience the attraction during exclusive previews, though specific dates for these have not yet been announced. The new Test Track 3.0, presented by General Motors, draws inspiration from World of Motion, which operated at EPCOT from 1982 to 1996. The attraction takes guests on a journey through the history of automotive technology, featuring six interactive exhibits in the queue that showcase how cars have evolved. A high-tech display with over 29,000 light points illustrates how modern vehicles use cameras and sensors, while a new musical score sets the mood.

Test Track first opened in 1999 as EPCOT’s first true thrill ride, with high-speed tracks reaching up to 65 mph. In 2012, it was upgraded to Test Track 2.0, where guests could design their own cars in an interactive pre-show, sponsored by Chevrolet. Now, General Motors is back at the helm, and the vehicles sport a sleek, darker design with updated interiors and seats. Construction walls were removed in June 2025, replaced with landscaping, and a new Test Track sign was unveiled. Vehicle testing began as early as March, both day and night, indicating that Disney is on track for the summer reopening.

The reopening is a highlight of EPCOT’s ongoing transformation, which also includes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and the new GEO-82 lounge for adults, which opened in June 2025. Test Track 3.0 is expected to be a popular addition to the Lightning Lane system, and with its opening in the middle of the summer season, EPCOT is a must-visit for Disney fans.
